If I recall correctly, the old Answers.OnStartups.com site (and all Stack Exchange sites) gave 5 points for an upvoted question and 10 points for an upvoted answer. The idea being that a good answer is worth quite a bit more than a good question. Why does Bright Journey put upvotes on questions at 5 instead of 10?

Agreed! The change will be live in tomorrow's release.
^5 for questions.
^10 for answers.
For all previous votes on the new Bright Journey site, the points will be settled as well (5 added to all answer up votes).
This is now live and all back votes since Bright Journey began were processed through the new points system.
