Should we show attribution for UP votes?

Maybe we should show who upvoted a question or answer (similar to Quora).

Why we should:

  • Extra way for people to be visible on the site. Even if someone isn't asking or answering, they can be visible with their votes.
  • Incentive to vote. If I see a great answer, I would want to be associated with it by voting (even if I don't have a comment to make).

Why we shouldn't:

  • Some people might want to vote anonymously.

  • My opinion: being able to vote anonymously outweighs the social and visibility benefits. Lets wait to see how everyone feels about this one. It's a really good feature to discuss! – Nishank Khanna 10 years ago
  • I think I could be convinced otherwise, but my gut reaction is that this is better to leave anonymous. The people who really want to brag about how supportive they are of a question or answer I think will have a tendency to leave a comment as well. – rbwhitaker 10 years ago
  • Personally, I do believe in transparency over anonymity. I seem to recall that this was a rank privilege on the former SE platform. Does following this method push the discussion one way or the other? – Nick Stevens 10 years ago
