Which eCommerce platform would you recommend?

0

I'm creating my first online store and don't want to reinvent the wheel by developing a custom website. There looks like a ton of free and paid services online that I can use to sell.

Is there any particular one that you would recommend from past experience?

Btw, I'm new to creating my own site but not new to online selling. Until now I have been selling my products on eBay and Amazon. But now I realize that creating your own brand is important.

The big ones to look at are Shopify and SquareSpace. They should be enough to get you started.

The complexity of getting a payment processor is usually a distraction when you're just getting started. Optimize after you start generating revenue from the site.

Once you are ready to look at custom payment processors, do yourself a favor and stay away from PayPal. I've had nothing but bad experiences using Paypal.

Shopify - http://www.shopify.com/ - is a popular platform for creating your own e-commerce site. I know them mainly by reputation; they've been growing like crazy and capturing more and more of this space.
