What is the single ONE book should every startup owner read about accounting?

What is the single most useful accounting book for the bootstrapped entrepreneur? It is my single largest flaw in my business education, I imagine a lot of people are in the same boat.

The best book I've read on accounting/bookkeeping is Bookkeeping Made Simple . The basics are well explained. It doesn't cover tax structures and other advanced accounting topics; however, a solid understanding of the fundamentals presented in this book should be the first step. It's also a very quick read if you skip the exercises.

Personally, I was able to have a much more intelligent conversations with my CPA after reading this book.

  • @Stronico, I hope you like the book as much as I did. And if you think my review at Amazon is accurate, I would really appreciate a "helpful" vote. :-) Thanks. – Clint 13 years ago
