Are there any events or networking opportunities specifically for female founders in the bay area?

The biggest is Women 2.0. I bet there are some Meetup groups as well.

One thing great about the bay area is that people are very open to meet you to give advice. I would contact all of the founders on this Mashable list of 44 female founders, and kindly ask to meet them for a cup of coffee and 10 minutes of their time.

You don't always need a conference or event to expand your network. The best way is to create a list of influencers and hustle your way into getting a few minutes of their time for advice.

Tip: Pay it forward. Offer them some help of your own and you'll have much more success reaching influencers.
