Raise funding for business that isn't a tech startup?

I have a unique candle product similar to HiddenTreasures that is growing organically needs capital to reach the next level.

I've read about enough traditional fundraising for web startups but there doesn't seem to be many investors helping small independent makers get the capital they need to grow.

Any suggestions on where I should look to raise a small round of financing?

  • Can you put a dollar amount to "small" for us? For some businesses, $1000 is small. For others, its $100,000. Depending on where you fit, you'll have different options available to you. – rbwhitaker 4 years ago
  • I would say around $50K would be a good minimum for me to meet my goals. The first item on the list is hiring a person to help with production (I make the product at home). – Paula Hall 4 years ago

Your business sounds like the perfect fit for crowd funding. Have you given Kickstarter or Indiegogo a thought?

There's also a list of non-tech angel investors on AngelList. Your path of least resistance is going to be angel funding, not VC.
